Power Factor Correction

Sizes shunt capacitor banks to correct an electrical load's power factor to a target value, and reports kVAR, μF per phase (Y and delta), and estimated annual feeder kWh saved. Required columns: tag, voltage_v, phase, load_kw, existing_pf, target_pf.

Method: standard power-factor correction relation Qcap = kW × (tanφ1 − tanφ2). Per-phase capacitance from C = Qphase / (2πf V2). For 3-phase Y-banks Vph = VLL/√3; for delta banks Vph = VLL. Feeder energy savings approximated as I2R reduction proportional to 1 − (PF1/PF2)2, applied to the entered feeder loss percent at 8760 hr/yr.
