CoInafsletcatilo nA Prouinbta E nEgningeeirninege Prriancgtic Pesractices Fabric Expansion Joints 13.2 A line–by–line description of the information to be provided on the data sheet is provided in the following paragraphs. Each paragraph number refers to a line number on the data sheet. An asterisk (*) indicates the additional information is to be furnished by the purchaser. All items without an asterisk are stipulated in this Practice. The data sheet is designed for a straight expansion joint. For more complex expansion joints involving bends, tees, multiple diameters, ect., attach a drawing to the data sheet and note “see drawing” in each space where the information is provided on this drawing. 1) (*)Specify the quantity of expansion joints. Refer to Figure 1 and specify the type of expansion joints. 2) (*)Specify whether the expansion joint is a new or a replacement expansion joint. 3) (*)Specify the type of plant or service in which the expansion joint is to be used. 4) (*)If applicable, determine the type of fuel flowing through the expansion joint and indicate the percentage of sulfur in the fuel. 5) (*)Specify the dew point and the ph value of the service fluid. 6) (*)Specify the number of anticipated startups and shutdowns that the joint is to endure in one year. 7) (*)Specify the location of the expansion joint. 8) (*)Specify the duct size (inside dimensions for a rectangular duct, inside diameter for a circular duct). 9) (*)Specify the minimum clearance around the duct. 10) (*)If the expansion joint is a replacement expansion joint, or if required, specify the face–to– face dimension of the expansion joint. Indicate whether this dimension is required and whether it is a maximum value. 11) (*)Specify the flowing medium. 12) (*)Specify the type of dust load and whether it is an abrasive dust load. 13) (*)Specify the flow velocity. 14) (*)Specify the flow direction. 15) (*)Specify the maximum design pressure. 16) (*)Specify the normal design pressure. 17) (*)Specify the maximum continuous gas temperature. 18) (*)Specify the maximum excursion (upset) temperature. 19) (*)Specify the duration of the maximum excursion (upset) event. 20) (*)Specify the cumulative duration of maximum excursion (upset) events. 21) (*)Specify the maximum ambient temperature. 22) (*)Specify the minimum ambient temperature. 23) (*)Specify the axial compression. 24) (*)Specify the axial extension. 25) (*)Specify the lateral deflection. 26) (*)Indicate whether angulation occurs in the plane of the lateral movement, and if so, the angle of movement. 27) (*)Specify the angle of movement in torsion. 28) (*)Specify the duct material and the duct thickness. 29) (*)Specify the liner material and the liner thickness. 30) (*)Specify the refractory lining material and thickness, if applicable. 31) (*)Indicate whether or not an internal liner rod is to be used or whether it is optional. Indicate whether the expansion joint is to be shipped with preset deflections. 32) (*)Indicate whether the expansion joint is to be shipped in its assembled form, field assembled or if a field splice belt is to be used.
