Each subparagraph number refers to a line number on the data sheet. An asterisk (*) indicates information that is to be furnished by the purchaser. All items without an asterisk are stipulated in either EP 5–3–1 or this Practice, or are to be completed by the Manufacturer. 1) (*)Specify the valve tag identification. 2) (*)Specify the valve size corresponding to the normal pipe sizes in API 609 or ASME B16.10, where applicable. 3) (*)Specify the valve class per API 609. 4) (*)Specify the Category B (see Table 2 API 609) fire–tested valve meeting the requirements of API 607. 5) (*)Specify double flanged end connection and description of mating flanges, see paragraph 5.9 and see paragraphs 1.1.2 and 3.2.3 of API 609. 6) (*)Specify the type of companion flange (slip–on, welding–neck, or other) and flange bore or pipe inside diameter, as applicable. The purchaser should verify disc clearances with the valve manufacturer, see paragraph 3.2 or API 609. 7) (*)Specify the operator type, see paragraph 3.8 of API 609. 8) (*)Specify materials of construction (see paragraph 4.0) for the shell, trim (includes: shafts, bushings, seating surfaces on the body and disc, internal keys, pins and screws in contact with the contained fluid), seat retainer, stem packing, shaft seal, gland bolting, and gaskets. 9) (*)Specify whether unidirectional or bi–directional flow, see paragraph 3.7.3 of API 609. 10) (*)Specify whether dead end service is required, see paragraph 3.7.3 of API 609. 11) (*)Specify on–off or throttling service, see paragraph 3.8 of API 609. 12) Specify any external coating, see paragraph 6.6 of API 609. 13) This specification is not applicable to double flanged rotary valves (high performance butterfly valves). 14) Specify allowable gasket–surface interruptions for valve smaller than NPS 6. This needs to be agreed upon between the purchaser and the manufacturer, see paragraph 3.7.2 of API 609. 15) Specify inspection and testing requirements, see paragraph 6.0. 16) Specify packaging requirements, see EP 5–3–21. 17) Specify Short Pattern face–to–face dimensions for double flanged valves if required. Long Pattern face–to–face dimensions will be supplied for double flanged valves if Short Pattern is not specified, see Table 2 of API 609. 18) Specify electrical continuity if required, see paragraph 3.9 of API 609. 19) (*)Specify whether flanges are integral or welded. Owner’s engineer approval is required for welded flanges, see paragraph 3.2.3 of API 609. 20) Specify drain or bypass connections, if required, see paragraph 3.2.4 of API 609. 21) Specify a lockable device, if required, see paragraph 3.1.4 of API 609. 22) (*)Specify firesafe tested valve design per the current edition of API 607, if desired. 23) (*)Specify the installed orientation of the valve stem. 24) (*)Specify additional notes, if required. 7.3 The completed valve data sheet can be used in conjunction with this Practice and EP 5–3–21 as a purchase specification.
