SCOPE

This Practice covers the requirements for electrical schematic and one–line symbols to be used on electrical drawings.
Any deviation to this Practice must be approved by the procedure described in EP 1–1–3.

The latest edition of the following publications are referred to herein.

STANDARDS AND PUBLICATIONS

DEFINITIONS

CAD Supervisor - Inflection Point Engineering, LLC employee responsible for all CAD services and drawings at each plant.
Electrical One–Line Diagram - Graphical representation of a power system.
Owner - Inflection Point Engineering, LLC.
Owner’s Engineer - A Inflection Point Engineering, LLC appointed engineer.

GENERAL

This Practice contains a general symbol library and seed files. The symbols have been selected from widely used national and industry standards. If additional symbols are required for a particular project, the Owner’s review and approval as per EP 1–1–3 is required.
The Owner’s symbol library is on AutoCAD. A diskette can be provided upon request, from the Owner’s Engineer. Copies of the symbol cells are shown in the figures located in the back of this Practice.
Copies of the AutoCAD seed files on diskettes will be furnished by the Owner upon request.

SCHEMATIC, JUNCTION BOX LAYOUT, ELECTRICAL ONE–LINE, ELECTRICAL ELEMENTARY/SCHEMATIC

These types of drawings shall be 24” X 36”.
Refer to ANSI/IEEE C 37.2 for Standard Device Function Numbers.
Appropriate AutoCAD layers and colors for instrument/DCS Loop Drawings are shown in Table 1A.
Appropriate AutoCAD layers and colors for voltage level lines are shown in Table 2A and Table 2B.
Text standards are shown in Table 3.
Electrical drawing conventions shall be shown as per Table 4.
A legend for the graphic and text symbols shall be provided at extreme right side of the one– line/elementary drawings.
Electrical schematic and one–line symbols are shown in Figures 1 .

All size variables set for 1” = 1” File.
Drawing size is 24” x 36” for IPE format with attributes.
The following two items may be erased if not needed for this drawing:
2–column ladder with line numbers.
Dashed box, use this as placement for I/O cards.
When starting a new drawing use the appropriate file name as your copy or prototype file.
3/32” text acceptable on drawing sizes of 11”X17” or smaller.
