Before Arriving on Site:
1. Review all available project documents:
• P&IDs (verify latest revision)
• PFDs and heat/material balances
• Equipment data sheets for your scope
• Operating procedures (if available)
• Project schedule and scope of work
• Previous turnaround/startup reports for the unit
2. Understand the Contract:
• Scope boundaries — what is your responsibility vs. client
• Deliverables expected (daily reports, final report, procedures)
• Reporting structure (who you report to, client contacts)
• Schedule milestones and penalties (if any)
• Change order process
3. Personal Preparation:
• Valid safety training certifications (H2S, confined space, TWIC if applicable)
• Company PPE (hard hat, FRC, safety glasses, steel-toes, gloves)
• Tools of the trade: laptop, calculator, reference materials
• Emergency contacts and travel logistics
