Cathodic Protection Current

Total protective current, governing anode count (current-based vs design-life-based), anode life, spacing, and total anode weight for a buried pipeline per NACE SP0169. Applies a coating breakdown factor and a user-selected anode material.

Standards: NACE SP0169-2013 (External Corrosion on Underground Metallic Piping), NACE SP0176 (Submerged Offshore Steel), DNV-RP-B401 (offshore CP design), ASTM G57 (Wenner 4-pin soil resistivity). Method: total current I = π·OD·L × breakdown × ibare; governing anode count = max(current-based, life-based); per-anode life uses current actually shared across the governing count, not the per-anode design output. Typical consumption rates: Zn 23.5, Mg 8.76, HVSA ≈1.0 lb/A·yr.
